Amazon Listing Optimisation Checklist

A practical checklist for auditing and improving every element of your Amazon product listing.

Why Regular Listing Audits Matter

Listings degrade over time. Competitors improve their content, search trends shift, seasonal relevance changes, and Amazon updates its requirements. A listing that performed well six months ago may now be underperforming simply because the competitive landscape evolved. Regular audits catch these issues before they significantly impact your sales and ranking.

Title Optimisation Check

Verify your title includes your primary keyword near the beginning. Confirm it mentions brand, product type, key attributes, and size or quantity. Check it is within category character limits. Ensure it reads naturally to a human buyer while containing search-relevant terms. Compare your title against the top three competitors for your main keyword and identify anything they include that you do not.

Image Audit

Confirm your main image meets current requirements with a pure white background and product filling at least 85 percent of the frame. Check that you are using all available image slots. Verify each image serves a distinct purpose — different angles, scale reference, lifestyle context, infographics, and packaging. Ensure images are high resolution enough for zoom functionality to work.

Bullet Point Review

Each bullet should lead with a benefit and include relevant keywords naturally. Check that you cover the top five to seven concerns or questions buyers have about your product category. Ensure bullets are formatted consistently and easy to scan on mobile devices. Remove any outdated information such as discontinued features or old warranty terms.

Backend Search Terms

Review your backend search terms quarterly. Remove any terms that are now irrelevant. Add new keywords discovered through PPC search term reports or Brand Analytics. Ensure you are not wasting space on words already in your title or bullets. Check you are within the 250-byte limit without exceeding it.

A+ Content and Storefront

If brand-registered, verify your A+ Content displays correctly on both desktop and mobile. Check that comparison tables link to current active products. Ensure images are not stretched or pixelated. Update any seasonal messaging. Confirm all text is accurate and reflects current product specifications and claims.

Pricing and Offer Check

Compare your price against competitors offering similar products. Verify your price accounts for current fee structures including any recent Amazon fee increases. Check that any coupons or promotions are active and displaying correctly. Confirm you own the Buy Box and investigate if you do not. Ensure your delivery speed is competitive within your category.
